It could occur in young adults, teenagers and even babies.I have gotten interested in researching about arthritis mostly in young people as recently i have been having some knee aches.

While researching i came across this article. I hope you enjoy it and you are totally enlightened on the condition called 'Juvenile/Childhood Arthritis'.

What Causes Childhood Arthritis?
By David Chandler

Childhood arthritis is a disease that occurs in children under the age of 16. It causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in one or more of the joints. This pain, stiffness, and swelling are called inflammation. With childhood arthritis, the inflammation lasts longer than six weeks, and is not caused by an injury or other illness. Childhood arthritis is also called juvenile arthritis.

How common is childhood arthritis? It affects 1 in 1,000 US children under the age of 16.
Both boys and girls are affected by childhood arthritis. Arthritis is not just a disease of old people. In fact, approximately one in 1,000 children under the age of 16 suffers from arthritis. Juvenile arthritis is among the most common chronic childhood disorders.

What causes childhood arthritis?

The exact cause of childhood arthritis is unknown. Childhood arthritis does not usually run in families and cannot be passed from one person to another. The onset of childhood arthritis may follow an infection or injury, but these events do not cause the arthritis.
With childhood arthritis, the body's immune system stops working properly. The immune system's job is to fight off germs and disease. However, in a child with childhood arthritis the immune system attacks healthy tissues. What triggers this process is unknown.

What can you do about childhood arthritis? If your child has inflammation, in one or more joints for more than six weeks your doctor may perform a physical examination of your child and order tests, such as x-rays and blood tests to find out what is causing the inflammation. There is not just one single symptom, sign, or test that will give a diagnosis of childhood arthritis.

If your doctor thinks your child has childhood arthritis, he or she will usually refer your child to a rheumatologist (pronounced room-a-tol-o-jist). A rheumatologist is a doctor who has received special training in the diagnosis and treatment of problems involving inflammation of the joints, muscles and other parts of the body.

For more information, visit http://www.arthritisinfocenter.com/

Recently the management of arthritis has shifted to regeneration of cartilages and tendons in the body. Glucosamine, Chrondroitin, Omega 3 and a whole lot of supplements are now being used. It has been ages since I have written, I have been away for about 4 months (it is a whole lot shorter than the other time). I have been trying to cope with the stress of my job (it is taking extreme strength for me to write this).
I really need to plan my time, I should write more (at least once a week).
I am also glad to let you know that I have acquired an internet connection for my use at home which means I will be able to write more and also research more to give you the very best (yippee!). I am only able to use the internet during the weekends (that is the package that I subscribed to, but I intend changing to an every day, every hour plan).
Well I really have not planned to write anything, just wanted to let you know that I am alive and well.
So to all my fans; get ready for a swell time ‘cos I am going to take on a wonderful, spectacular ride.
Hope to see you tomorrow (after I come back from the wedding I am attending).
Bye for now, your girl, Bim nubi.

AMAZING NATURAL ARTHRITIS REMEDIES

As a pharmacist who is trained on most of the aspects of drugs, it has come to my notice that a lot of people are being to get weary of using synthetic drugs and are embracing natural medicine. Maybe it is due to the fact that most of these synthetic drugs while helping you may cause some serious side effects that make you feel worse or maybe due to the fact that people are trying to protect themselves from the long term harm of using a drug (either for a short period or long one).

Arthritis is a disease that is not curable, which means a patient that has arthritis has to adjust his/her lifestyle and consume drugs to help alleviate the pain or tackle the cause of the arthritis. This leads us to looking for natural arthritis treatments. However what exactly should we look for when choosing a natural remedy for arthritis?

Natural arthritis treatments should target the following areas:
1. Improve cartilage formation
2. Reduce inflammation
3. Increase range of motion
4. Improve muscle strength
5. Reduce pain
6. Increase endurance
Some ingredients that are usually contain in natural arthritis remedies include: Boron, MSM (Methylsulphonylmethane), Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Boswelia, Bromelain, Devil’s Claw.
All these ‘natural ingredients’ target a certain area of the joint that would help you function like a normal, healthy adult. Most patients affected with arthritis want the pain that they experience to be alleviated. Some consume pain relievers like aspirin, ibuprofen but these drugs do not take care of the cause of the pain, they just mask the pain.

The natural arthritis treatments target the cause of the pain and try to facilitate the healing process. Some of them target inflammation that is usually observed while some help make the pain go away.

Glucosamine and Chrondroitin target the cartilage present in the joints and begin or help in the healing process of damaged cartilage. The cartilage in the joints will deteriorate over time and if we don’t replace that deterioration process, pain and inflammation will flare up. This occurs because as we age, our muscles tend to lose their flexibility and their overall strength decreases. Atrophy (loss of muscle mass) would happen if you stop using your muscles and the ones that are hurt the most are the muscles that support your joints. This is why a great deal has been written about physical conditioning.

Most natural arthritis treatments/remedies sold should contain some of the ingredients mentioned, however it may not be possible to find a product that has all the ingredients. It is possible to find different products that contain some of the ingredients and mix them to get all the ingredients.

I have to however sound a note of warning that these drugs may not work for everyone as we are all made of different genes. Try to consult your doctor before getting any drug.
Hope you enjoyed this piece. Love to see you next time.
Stay beautifully blessed, Your girl, Bim nubi signing out.

P.S: If you need products that contain Glucosamine and Chrondroitin and other helpful components that help in tackling arthritis, check out:
1. Arthritis: It means inflammation of a joint. A joint is a part where two bones connect with each other. The two bones are separated from each other by a slight gap called the joint cavity. Arthritis has over 100 types.

2. Synovial Membrane: It is a thin membrane that covers the space between bones. It secretes a thin fluid called synovial fluid that acts like a lubricant in the joint, helping the bones move smoothly against each other.

3. Cartilage: Tough, elastic tissue that covers and protects the ends of bones. It serves as a ‘cushion’ between the bones of the joints.

4. Immune system: A network of organs, tissues, cells, and chemicals that protect the body from foreign invaders, such as bacteria and viruses.

5. Autoimmune disorder: A condition in which the body’s immune system attacks some part of the body and treats it as if it were a foreign invader.

6. Osteoarthritis: Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis that is caused by the breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of one or more joints. Osteoarthritis is also known as ‘degenerative arthritis’. There are two forms available: primary and secondary arthritis.

7. Rheumatoid Arthritis: This is the most common serious inflammatory form of arthritis. It may do most of its damage in the first year, therefore early diagnosis and aggressive therapy is critical. If left untreated it may shorten life expectancy by as much as 18 years.

8. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis: It is still unclear why children develop arthritis. It is different from adult arthritis in that children with arthritis sometimes outgrow the illness and it tends to be difficult to diagnose because the regular tests for arthritis are unreliable for children. It causes pain and inflammation in the joints of children.

9. Psoriatic Arthritis: It is a potentially serious inflammatory form of arthritis that is often found in association with psoriasis. It can cause serious problems because it may begin and progress insidiously. Early diagnosis and aggressive intervention are recommended.

10. Glucosamine: It is an amino sugar and a prominent precursor in the synthesis (making) of proteins and lipids. It is found as a major component of the exoskeletons of crustaceans and other arthropods, in fungi and many higher organisms. It is commonly used as a treatment for osteoarthritis.

11. Chondroitin: Chrondroitin sulphate is part of a large protein molecule (proteoglycan) that gives cartilage elasticity.

Well I think that is enough jargons for now, I hope you understood them and it helps you a whole lot.

Till next time, it’s your girl, Bim nubi saying ‘Remain beautifully blessed’. It refers to more than 100 different types of arthritis conditions. The common denominator for all these conditions is joint and musculoskeletal (bones and muscle) pain. Arthritis is not just a disease of the old though many older people do have arthritis.

Most drugs used in its treatment are aimed at relieving the pain experienced and not at dealing with the problem. ENTER….Glucosamine and Chondroitin, they are substances found naturally in the body that help in cartilage formation and repair / elasticity which is vital in the body’s movement. They are usually sold as nutritional supplements.

It has been observed from previous studies that when they are taken properly there is a relief in pain noticed by patients with mild to moderate osteoarthritis similar to that of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen. They however do not cause harmful effects like them.

Though their side effects are less, some cases of increased intestinal gas and softened stools have been reported. If you experience these problems it is advisable you switch to another supplement brand as it might be caused by an additional ingredient in the brand you are using.

It is also advisable that diabetic patients check their blood sugar level when taking glucosamine as it is an amino sugar and pregnant women should avoid using the supplements. If you allergic to shellfish it is important that you get a glucosamine supplement that does not cause you to have any adverse reaction. Chondroitin sulfate has a similar structure to heparin so it is advisable that if you are on any blood-thining medication, you should check your blood clotting time more often.

When you want to obtain any dietary supplement, it is important that you go for products that are high in quality, sold by companies that are well-established and trust worthy, read the labels to make sure you do not react to any one and consult your doctor before trying any one.

Products of high quality and efficacy that contain glucosamine and chondroitin that I recommend are:
1. Glucosamine Themed: http://www.synflexamericaaffiliates.com/showban.asp?id=2261&img=1.gif

2. Glucosamine & Chondroitin Extra Strength by Now:
http://www.evitamins.com/images/products/gluchondsnow.gif
3. Maxlife Glucosamine & Chondroitin Sulfate: http://www.evitamins.com/images/products/maxilifeglucos60.jpg

Hope you find one that suits you and helps you a LOT.

Well, that is all folks.
